Methodology

The LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method is an innovative, experiential process designed to enhance innovation, and subsequently performance. It is based upon the belief that everyone can contribute to discussions, decisions and outcomes. As a method, LSP embodies active participation, creating deep insights through commitment ensuring faster implementation. It is underpinned by the following concepts:

Building models: Participants build models that represent their ideas, thoughts and reflections on a specific topic area.

Hand-Mind connection: Driven from constructivism and leveraging, the concept that "hands-on, minds-on learning" produces a deeper and more meaningful understanding of the world and its possibilities.

Complex adaptive systems: underlying what seems inherently complex are more orderly principles, but not one is typically explored. Driving to raise knowledge through understanding social systems and their landscapes, emerging behaviours and simple rules.

Storytelling and metaphors: Models serve as a basis for storytelling and sharing insights. Using metaphors to construct a narrative that communicates both simple and abstract concepts for all involved to hear and understand.

Benefits

LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® excels in fostering collaborative discovery and hands-on engagement, making it a powerful tool for teams seeking efficient and innovative solutions. By engaging participants in a physical and creative process of building LEGO® models, it ensures active involvement and deeper understanding, thus accelerating the decision-making and problem-solving processes when compared to more traditional pen and paper or discussion meeting methods.

This tactile engagement democratizes the session, allowing equal participation and a convergence of diverse perspectives, but also unlocks hidden insights, tapping into the subconscious and encouraging free expression of ideas in a safe environment, typically overlooked in traditional settings. The method's playful yet structured approach leads to a more dynamic exploration of challenges, resulting in speed of results as complex concepts are rapidly visualised, iterated upon, and collectively understood, making it an effective alternative to conventional methods in today's fast-paced environments.

Real Time Identity (Person)

Centred on personal development, the process is designed to raise self-awareness and develop an action plan to help achieve an aspirational identity, designed to improve functioning.
